Everything you've heard about music city is true and then some. Everywhere people eat, sleep, breathe and live music. I like that.

It has been much too long since I posted anything exciting, but that's only because I've been out in the field collecting new music and new friends. Oh, and the tornado activity in Georgia last week put me way behind schedule, but I tried not to stress out about it. We just passed the moonshine around.

Do you think my laptop knows when I'm on the road? It pooped out on me too - I've missed important deadlines and there's no one to complain to about it. A deadline is a deadline is a deadline, so I'll be eating some humble pie and begging absolution, but the show is not over. It's really just beginning.

So far:

Tucker Days, The Old Tucker Fountain and the Moonshadow Tavern were waiting with open arms for me. Gee, I love that place. Anyone got a room for me this winter? I am ready.

The Day Celebration in (the real) Buckhead - Stan and Jamie were terrific hosts. The music just tickled my ears in places I'd forgotten about. Again, it is soooo hard to take photos when the photographer is dancing.

Hillside Spring Bluegrass Festival was beyond my expectations. On the more somber side, the devastation of the Mother's Day storms in Georgia left me speechless at times. Some folks are still trying to get back into the fold, those little things called utitilies that we rely on sure mean a lot when they are gone.

Nashville's Music Row and Lower Broad are keeping me excited about new music and the County Music Hall of Fame makes me appreciate history even more. Why, I got to see Miss Emmylou's new plaque as a 2008 inductee.

My Scarlet Kings were fantabulous and I can now recommend The Rutledge as a fine, fine venue. And I'm not finished yet.

How about The Station Inn?  I'll be glad to tell you about Billy Smith's cd release party for 'Five Flat Rocks' with some ever so special guests. And I'm not done at the Station Inn, either. I just love hearing the Alison Krauss stories of her first appearances there at around 15 years of age...people don't forget a thing in this town, not a thing!

Then there's the Burns Station Sound folks who are celebrating not only a change in ownership, but the best dang (oh listen to this yankee girl) place to record the magnificent wealth of songs found only in Nashville. Or at least from the folks who flock to Nashville to share their songs. Can anyone say Grammy? And I don't mean Grampa's wife.

So many musicians, so little time.

I'll send a note around when the pictures are up running - when my Dell from Hell lets me do my job from the road the right way.

Support live music, then buy the cd. It's what keeps us all humming.

peace
