Michigan festival etiquette and the Happy Heinie Sponsorship Program
Current mood: fabulous
Category: Music
Greetings from the land of plenty...of music.
So this weekend is the Get Er Done gathering at The Farm in Johannesburg. A Farmhand Work Reunion of Sorts before the Farmhand Family Reunion in August.
Change is inevitable, but it doesn't have to be sorrowful.
This summer, kellybeez has the distinct and honored opportunity to examine festival life, each festival commanding its place in the musical food chain in michigan. Some are still in root stages; some serve as the stabilizing stalk, fluid enough to bend in the breeze but strong enough in tradition to keep connected to the roots. Others are budding as the big-picture growth season progresses, and we will also see a place like Dunegrass blossom in full golden August glory.
No one wants to watch a flower fade, nor dead-head (although some jamband folks might take issue with this analogy) nor prune without true appreciation for the time availed (Farwell's cancellation). So in this journey, keep in mind the growing cycle.
After reading some interesting takes on booing etiquette at Bonnaroo, I can honestly say that making us stay up later than we intended at a michigan festival to hear music is usually one of the highlights of a weekend.
In our crowd, we wouldn't boo the offender; someone would gently lead him to the side at some point and express love and concern, and maybe armed with a request for better clarification or communication next time around, and the conversation would end with a hug, but most likely a group hug. Now that's a michgan festival moment.
Happy Heinie Sponsorhip Program
All righty then, back to the present, and presently, there is a need to share this important opportunity for all of us self-marketing geniuses...and those who understand the importance of a happy heinie.
You can be a part of this exciting portajohn sponsorship program during the Farmhand Reunion in August!
For your donation of $70, your signage will appear on a portajohn on The Farm during the Reunion. Yes, you may name it what you like. Yes, you may provide the signage, but we will also make available materials for on-site signage creation at the reunion, via kellybeez.
Does your family have a preferred camping spot? Enjoy having a clean, well-stocked portajohn near your perfect camping spot? Sponsor your toidy!
This is an opportunity to take pride in your community. Take a collection of $5 or $10 from your community and sponsor your spot of choice...you will be amazed at the positive effect being a Happy Heinie Sponsor will have on your overall musical experience.
The Family Reunion is attempting to pay the sanitation fees up front this time around, understanding that a happy family has adequate sanitation facilities. We can accommodate each other, have a beautiful place to ... really people, have fun with this! There are sooooo many ways to go.....

The following notice is adapted from the above link:
"Farmfest No. 11 is happening
August 14 - 17, a Farmhand Family Reunion. Note that this is a change from the second weekend to the third weekend of August.
Also a change: There are no tickets, c'mon out...but a generous donation is encouraged at the gate (or by mail), since this festival can't happen again without some moo-sic moo-lah."
The musicians are all playing for free!!!
